STLCC Policies & Guidelines
Consumer Information
St. Louis Community College is required by the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, Public Law 105-244, to provide information regarding several consumer-education-related topics. Those topics include general information about St. Louis Community College, financial aid information for St. Louis Community College, St. Louis Community College’s Completion/Graduation/Transfer Rates Report, Campus Crime Statistics (Clery Act Report), Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program Report, Equity in Athletics (Title IX) Report and Intercollegiate Athletics Annual Revenue/Expenditures (Title IX) Report.
Additional information on consumer topics can be found in the College Policies and Procedures.
Out-of-State Student & Consumer Complaints
St. Louis Community College is committed to providing a high-quality educational environment for its online learners. As such, we work to be alert to the needs of our students by maintaining an environment in which your concerns are heard and addressed in a fair and prompt manner. Complaints regarding any aspect of STLCC operations should be filed internally first and then, if necessary, to the appropriate external authorities.
If your concern is related to a specific course, you should first attempt to resolve the concern by having a real-time conversation with your instructor (not email) to ensure clear communication.
If the instructor is not available or reasonable efforts have been exhausted, reach out to Online Education for assistance in resolution and in connecting with the appropriate offices or academic leadership.
For formal complaints, which must be submitted in writing and follow the process outlined under Academic Rights and Responsibilities, you should review the information found on the website carefully and complete the online complaint form as appropriate.
For more information on the NC-SARA student complaint process, visit the NC-SARA website.
Current or prospective students with a concern directly related to online education may contact the Online Education office directly for a prompt response.
In the unlikely event that a complaint cannot be resolved through STLCC’s processes, in-state students may seek resolution through the Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development, and out-of-state students may file a complaint with their resident state licensing authority or US Territories Regulatory Agencies.
Student Rights and Responsibilities
Students are expected to assume responsibility for their actions; to know and obey federal, state, and local laws; and to know and obey the rules and regulations of the college. Students should know their rights as they pertain to their access to education, complaint processes, and utilization of support resources. Additional information on Student Academic Rights and Responsibilities, Student Code of Conduct expectations, the Academic Appeals process, the General and/or Academic Complaint processes, Title IX Sex Discrimination and Sex-Based Harassment Grievance Procedures, and the Equity and Discrimination Complaint Process can be found in the College Policies and Procedures.
